Wordle, a new take on tag clouds

I’ve just discovered Wordle, a Java based “toy” which builds tag clouds for some text, RSS Feed or del.icio.us of your choosing. Not just tag clouds though, beautiful ones at that. You can mess with the font, the colors, the way the words are displayed and even cut out select words.

I could definitely see this tool being put too good use, but alas, it’s implementation is not as practical as one would hope: there is no API (that I know of) for automatically generating Wordle clouds, and converting it to a useful format is no walk in the park (I had to print and then use “Save as PDF”, then go to Photoshop and save it as an image).
