Yup, labs.sapo.pt/ua finally launched! After a few weeks of hard work, this community driven website is ready for public scrutiny.
It essentially serves as a showcase of most recent work and projects developed at the SAPO laboratory at the University of Aveiro, and believe me, there are already a lot of interesting projects springing up! I myself am involved with the soon to be SAPO Campus, but I promise a more in-depth post about that later.
I was one of the web developers deeply involved in the making of this site, so you can also expect a full-on portfolio post one of these days.
Everyone can comment on the various blogs, but only directly involved people can have a blog and post stuff. We hope that we were able do deliver a well-adjusted product and hope to see it thoroughly used for the next months!

Project Timeframe
December 2007 – January 2007
Motivations
Caixa d’Óculos was the final project for a Dynamic Internet Technologies course, taken on the first year of my Masters in Multimedia Communication at the University of Aveiro.
This web application would allow for students in all degrees of teaching to manage their school related tasks, calendars and learning content in a shared, community space accessible from anywhere. It would differ from regular e-learning solutions in that it was strongly student oriented, and focused on those same students to publish and share educational content (videos, images, even their own notes) with others, while allowing everyone to view and rate those contents. Note-taking is probably one of the most important things creative people can do to find new ideas, explore fantasies, and even getting out of those annoying creative blocks. Or, if you’re like me, just plain remember stuff. I can’t even tell you how many times someone told me something really important, made me commit to memory, only to find I had forgotten all about it an hour later. (…) more after the jump ›

And I scored some tickets just in the nick of time. Clã will be playing tonight at the Teatro Aveirense, in Aveiro, at about 21:30. Clã got together in 1992, and in 1995 their debut album LusoQUALQUERcoisa hit the stores. The lead singer, Manuela Azevedo also collaborated with the Humanos project, a band who set itself apart by releasing previously unreleased material by António Variações.
Tonight though, the concert is all about Cintura, Clã’s latest album, which, by the way, I keep in my iPod at all times. The sound is very playful and naive, and the lyrics are (more often than not) really really good. A must see!

There is a great tutorial over at NETTUTS on how to build a lifestream using the hip fresh SweetCron software. A lifestream essentially keeps track of everything you post at Flickr, Twitter, etc. and brings it all together in a nice, fully customizable website. Something to try out for the future of this site, maybe. For now, be sure to check the tutorial!
